The 4th annual Mozart Festival will take place on Sunday April 23rd in the arts and culture district in the Jackson Ward neighborhood. For this year’s festival Classical Revolution RVA will provide a chance for Richmond, VA’s classical community to take over the shops, bars, restaurants, and venues for a day-long festival which is free to the public. This year’s festival will feature a variety of ways to celebrate the music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart while also enjoying the foods, drinks, and settings of this iconic arts district.
Over 100 musicians will descend upon the Mozart Festival to provide audience goers with unique options for soaking in the legendary music of Mozart. The day’s programing will involve music for Sunday brunch, an arts and crafts event for families and children, a Mozart parade for the younger Mozart fans, excerpts from classic Mozart operas, an informative talk on the composer’s works, a performance by a cello orchestra, a full orchestral performance, an evening arias performance, and more!
This year’s Mozart Festival will also allow Richmond audiences to experience some of the region’s most established classical musicians. Dr. Erin Freeman, VCU Choral Director, will be on hand to give an informative presentation on the life and work of Mozart with live musical examples at Big Secret. Chia-Hsuan Lin, the Richmond Symphony’s associate conductor, will lead a full orchestra performing Mozart symphonies at Candella Gallery. Adrian Pintea and HyoJoo Uh, also of the Richmond Symphony, will be featured in Sinfonia Concertante, Mozart’s concerto for violin and viola.
Classical Revolution RVA is a 501 (c)(3) non profit performing arts organization devoted to bringing classical music to the masses in Richmond, VA. This festival furthers Classical Revolution RVA’s mission to make more music and to integrate classical music with Richmond’s vibrant music scene by taking it into local bars, restaurants, cafes, and galleries–places people are already going to hear live music. On Sunday April 23rd Classical Revolution RVA will be providing Richmond with an opportunity to explore Mozart’s classics in a casual environment from 11am to 9pm.
