A Letter from Your Andrew
Dear Classical Revolution RVA,
TYL ppl need memes so they can LOL before u rite something sincere.
I wasn’t sure I’d see your 8th birthday.
Since the day you were left on my doorstep, ready to expire, I’ve been called by many names and titles. “Executive,” “Director,” “Artistic Liaison,” “Signatory,” “Helper,” …others that aren’t worth writing down or repeating.
My favorite was when they called me “friend,” and meant it.
Thank you, Becca!
If you’re very lucky in this life, you’d need a third hand to count all of your real friends. The rest are just people, which is fine if you’re able to keep a healthy perspective. That’s harder than it sounds.
One day, people will be able to get close to each other again. When that day comes, you need to be ready. The people come to Classical Revolution RVA to hear something real: the beauty created in quiet hours by artists who need beauty to exist. Make a safe creative space for the artists, and they will make something beautiful.
Different artists need different things to stay safe. Learn what those things are and obtain them. Some need more time; some need money; some need encouragement and respect; some need to ascend; some need to remember.
You have the freedom to determine how this show goes on.
It doesn’t mean that your mission can proceed without leadership. You’ll get knocked down fast that way. You have a team of leaders and a community who cares about what you do. And of course, my darling, if you ever get knocked down, I’m still alive IRL and one of the people who can pick you up again. But I ain’t about to swaddle you.
It’s time for you to stand on your own without any of your parents close by.
